Hello everyone and welcome to Balance Baby, the podcast designed to help you consistently show up as the best version of yourself. My name is Harkaren and I'll be your host. I'll be here every week sharing stories and teaching you techniques to prioritize the only thing we have any control over in this world Ourselves. I'm sorry to break it to you, but manifestation is not a genie in a bottle. Maybe social media has convinced you that you can just recite an affirmation three times a day for three days and expect your manifestation to magically appear. It doesn't work like that.
Harkaren:As we previously discussed, our thoughts affect our emotions, which in turn influence our behavior and the energy we emit into the world. By consistently challenging and altering our negative thoughts, we initiate a transformative process that extends beyond our internal landscape. This process involves raising our vibrational frequency, a concept often associated with the law of attraction. The idea is that the higher vibrational frequencies align with more positive experiences, opportunities and manifestations. The law of attraction suggests that when we vibrate at a higher frequency through positive thoughts and feelings, we draw in corresponding positive circumstances and outcomes. This is not about wishful thinking alone, but allowing our elevated vibrations to guide us towards actions and choices that align with our beliefs. As we deliberately shift our mindset towards positivity, gratitude and optimism, we not only improve our own well-being, but also radiate a different energy to the external environment. This shift in energy can impact how we perceive and interact with the world around us. Others may respond differently to our positive aura that we send out, creating a ripple effect that can enhance the quality of relationships and our overall life experiences.
Harkaren:The most consistent compliment I've gotten in the last two years has been how good it feels to be in my energy. You feel good when somebody compliments your looks. You feel great when somebody compliments your character, but the feeling is unmatched when somebody compliments your energy. There's a unique joy that comes with someone recognizing the positivity and authenticity in your energy, because energy cannot be faked and energy doesn't lie. Giving off good energy signals that you have done the inner work and that you live in a state of alignment with your true self. I want you to think back to a situation where you met someone and instantly felt repelled by their energy. It's not about their physical appearance or what they say. It's a visceral reaction to the energy they emit. You're picking up on their vibrational energy. It's a reflection of their unresolved inner conflicts and signals the potential of misalignment. Maybe it's a clash of values, or their unresolved emotions, or a lack of authenticity. And it works in the exact opposite way. When you emit positive energy, you become an uplifter, which means anyone who comes into contact with you feels uplifted by your presence. It's an amazing feeling to know that people feel better after spending time with you.
Harkaren:What greater legacy could you ever want? This is why it's important to be mindful of the energy you're putting out into this world. You want to be remembered for lifting people up or dragging others down. When you're an uplifter, you understand that your actions and energy have an impact on the collective consciousness. You consciously strive to act in a way that will inspire, motivate and bring joy to the people around you. It goes beyond positive thinking. It involves cultivating a genuine and heart-centered approach to life, where you become a source of light and inspiration for others. When you do this by authentically connecting and aligning with your true self, it's a win-win situation. By acknowledging and understanding our energetic presence, we gain insight into our own state of being and how we interact with the world. This ties into the ripple effect I mentioned earlier, and I have a perfect example of how small acts of kindness can create big waves in your external world.
Harkaren:As some of you may know, I work casually as a nurse. I'm passionate about helping people, and nursing allows me to make a positive impact on countless lives. It's an extremely humbling career that doesn't come without its challenges, but I feel lucky to be able to show up compassionately for people in need. I feel fortunate to help people in a time when they're feeling they're most vulnerable. Nursing was what made it painfully obvious that how I show up will directly impact what happens in the world around me. The days when I felt unprepared, frazzled or generally discontent, I had some of my most challenging patients and my most overwhelming work days. The days when I showed up with a positive and helpful attitude, my shifts flowed easily and resulted in uplifting interactions with my patients and coworkers. During one of my shifts, I had a patient in her early 70s. Her husband would often spend all day with her at her bedside. She didn't require much assistance from the nursing staff and usually preferred to receive help from her husband.
Harkaren:This patient had a pre-existing colostomy. I won't go deep into the details, but a colostomy is a surgical procedure that involves creating an opening in the abdomen. Called a stoma, it is used to re-root a part of the large intestine, allowing waste to exit the body through the stoma. The waste is collected in a special appliance which generally has two components the adhesive component, which sticks to the skin around the stoma, creating a seal with the bag. The bag can be removed from the seal as needed. This patient's husband took on the responsibility of caring for her colostomy.
Harkaren:On this particular day. It was later in the morning and the husband had not yet arrived to the hospital. My patient's non-verbal cues were indicating that her skin around her stoma was irritated. She had been scratching at her skin and she was generally more short in her speaking tone than usual. I asked her if she wanted my assistance in changing her colostomy bag. She indicated that her husband would be arriving soon and that he would do it for her. She expressed that other nurses had tried in the past and had not done a good job, which wasted her supplies, which in turn wasted money. I reassured her that I was confident in my skills and that I had changed many colostomy bags in the past and that if she wanted, I could assist her. I told her that she seemed like she was uncomfortable and I wanted to help. If she would allow me to Unsure of how much longer her husband was going to be, she reluctantly agreed. There was an immediate sense of relief when I removed the old adhesive and cleaned the skin around the stoma. She was already so thankful that I was helping her. I followed my usual procedures and made sure to get the colostomy bag replaced as easily and effortlessly as possible. She was surprised and grateful that the experience went so well, considering that she had had multiple negative experiences in the past. When her husband later arrived, they were leaving the floor to get a coffee and they both thanked me again for my assistance.
Harkaren:This always feels silly to me. I'm a nurse and this is my job. I'm here to help, so it always makes me laugh when people are overly thankful for me doing my job. But I do understand where they're coming from. Not all nurses are the same.
Harkaren:Eventually this patient was discharged home. I didn't really think about her again until one day when I was having my lunch in the staff room, I saw a thank you note posted on the wall and I began reading it. I didn't recognize the patient's name, but as I was reading the note, I saw my name mentioned in the letter. The patient had written a letter to the hospital mentioning the exceptional care she received during her stay. She specifically mentioned three nurses that greatly impacted her experience. Two of them were from a different floor and one of them was me. I knew she was talking about me because, firstly, she mentioned my name, but secondly, she specifically mentioned that I helped with changing her colostomy appliance. She mentioned that I was a sweet and compassionate nurse who had exceptional skills, even though she had reservations about allowing anyone to change her colostomy bag. It was so heartwarming to read that letter and that she took the time out to give thanks and acknowledgement. But on top of that, enclosed with the letter, she had sent a check, a donation to the hospital.
Harkaren:Me showing up genuinely and compassionately for my patient led to an extreme sense of gratitude from my patient and her husband and ultimately led to a donation to the hospital. Talk about a ripple effect. Imagine if I had let her sit in her discomfort waiting for her husband to show up, growing increasingly irritated. What would our day have looked like? What would our experience have been? I'll never have to know, because I decided to act out of kindness and compassion and show up authentically as my caring self. This will pay off every single time. I feel so blessed that I get to plant seeds of positivity all over the place, knowing that they will spread. This example obviously relates to my workplace, but you can take these kinds of steps in your day, regardless of what you're doing. Can you challenge yourself to go out of your way for someone without expecting anything in return? Ultimately, the universe will always reward your efforts. By consciously deciding to act with kindness, you're not only creating positive ripples in your immediate environment, but are also aligning yourself with higher vibrations that lead to a more joyful existence. The more we consciously choose actions that align with love and compassion, the more we contribute to raising the vibrational frequency of not just ourselves but the world around us.
Harkaren:The concept of high and low vibrations is associated with the law of attraction and is rooted in the idea that everything in the universe, including our thoughts, emotions and actions, emit a certain energetic frequency or vibration. These vibrations can be categorized as high or low, based on their nature and impact on our well-being and the events we attract into our lives. Abraham Hicks, channeled by Esther Hicks, is known for teaching about the vibrational scale of alignment. This scale represents different emotional states and vibrations, ranging from the lowest, most negative emotions, to the highest, most positive emotions. The key idea is that where you fall on the vibrational scale is a reflection of your predominant thoughts and emotions, and it influences the circumstances and experiences you attract into your life. We can use our emotions as indications of our vibrational frequency, using them as a guidance system. It's important to frequently re-evaluate where you fall on the vibrational scale and actively work towards increasing your vibe.
Harkaren:Use this scale as a spectrum of feelings ranging from lower vibrations associated with negative emotions, to higher vibrations linked with positive feelings. At the lowest end of the scale are emotions like jealousy, insecurity, anger, frustration, guilt and shame. These emotions are associated with resistance and disconnection from your inner self. In a state of low vibration, you tend to attract negative situations and experiences. Your focus is on what you don't want and you may feel stuck or overwhelmed. In the middle range, you find emotions like boredom, hopefulness and optimism. These emotions are associated with a sense of relief and improvement. While these emotions are not as negative as the lower range, they're also not as powerful in attracting the desired experiences. They represent a step towards alignment. The highest end of the scale includes emotions like love, joy, gratitude and appreciation. These emotions are associated with alignment and connection with your inner self. When you're in a state of high vibration, you're in harmony with your desires and the universe. You attract positive experiences, synchronicities and a sense of flow into your life. Negative emotions are seen as signals that we may be out of alignment with our true desires, while positive emotions indicate a movement towards alignment.
Harkaren:Pivoting is a key concept that involves the conscious shift from lower to higher vibrational states. It's a deliberate and empowering practice that allows individuals to redirect their focus towards more positive aspects of their experiences, keeping an emphasis and focus on what feels good. Becoming aware of our thought patterns is crucial in this journey of deliberate creation. Abraham Hicks underscores the power of certain emotions, particularly joy and gratitude. These emotions are considered potent forces that align individuals with the highest frequencies of the vibrational scale. Feeling a genuine sense of joy and gratitude is seen as a direct pathway to attracting abundant and positive manifestations. The goal is to raise your vibrational frequency by deliberately choosing thoughts and emotions that align with the higher end of the scale. By practicing mindfulness, meditation and other alignment techniques, you can shift your emotional state from lower vibrations to higher ones. As you do, you begin to attract more positive circumstances and experiences into your life. Keep in mind this isn't about ignoring or repressing your feelings. The vibrational scale is not about labeling your emotions as good or bad. It's a tool to understand your energetic frequency. So, for example, when you're feeling jealous or insecure, or even bored, it's not possible to manifest love or wealth because you're not a vibrational match.
Harkaren:When I'm feeling a low vibration, I have a list of things I do to start working my way up the scale. I spend time in nature, and usually somewhere by water. Being in nature is extremely soothing for me. I sing along to music that I love, and I might even dance. I light a candle and I indulge in a relaxing bath, allowing the warmth and tranquility to wash away any lingering negativity. Spending time with my dog never fails to elevate my mood. Spending time with my niece and other people who genuinely care about me adds a layer of joy and connection.
Harkaren:Meditation and mindfulness serve as anchors, grounding me in the present moment and guiding my thoughts towards positivity. Reminding myself of all the things I'm grateful for is a practice that never loses its effectiveness. Meditation has a unique way of shifting focus from what may be lacking to the abundance that surrounds us. I like to use physical activity as a powerful tool. Whether it's taking a walk or a workout session, exercise has the ability to release endorphins and bring about a sense of well-being. I don't necessarily do all of these things at once. Rather, I keep going through my list until I can shake off the low energy and feel the shift within myself. Over time, I've become really good at recognizing what I need at any given moment.
Harkaren:But if you're just starting out, I recommend writing a list of things that make you feel good. It's about cultivating a toolbox of uplifting practices that resonate with you personally. Thank you so much for tuning in to my fourth episode. By consciously raising your vibration and maintaining a state of alignment, you can create a life that is more in line with your desires and experience greater joy, fulfillment and inner peace. Our goal is never to jump from the bottom to the top of the scale. Our goal is to gradually and sustainably increase our vibrations through inspired action. This will be our compass. It will serve as a reminder for where we started and where we are now. Together here we're creating a community of beautiful souls, ready to uplift each other, ready to experience all the joy that this life has to offer us. And don't forget life is all about balance, baby.
